our stay last august at Casa del Mar was the highlight of our trip to tanzania. that is a stiff competition!!!
i agree with all the other entries that the owners and the staff were just amazing. not to mention the absolutely charming rooms, yummy food and incredible view of the beach from all the rooms.
although we were only there for three days, we left feeling like we had left friends and family behind.
that is the reason we have decided to return with our whole family this year.
looking forward to a trip back to paradise, the zanzibar way.

Where should I start? The exotic beauty of the place? The warm and friendly staff? The kind and loving locals of Jambiani? or the FOOD?
I'll skip right ahead and let you know that by far this is the "Best" hotel resort that I have ever been to. You can always find a nice place to say, but I bet you will never find a professional and extremely friendly staff such as Casa Del Mar's.
You can always find good meals to eat but you will never get the experience of the environment and the interaction with such sweet servants.
You will always find clean beaches, but where will you find a clean beautiful beach that is not crowded. Infact, you might be the only ones in the beach all day long, talking and interacting with the locals...
From the Bottom of my Heart I would like to say "THANK YOU" I had the best honeymoon ever! |

Casa del Mar is an exquisite refuge from the generic sea side resorts of the world. Here, instead of noisy generators running air conditioning, the quiet of the ceiling fans allows for the sound of the surf to lull you to sleep. The cost of healthy meals cooked to your specifications has not been inflated for the tourist dollar. William, Fred, and Wilimina were personally warm in addition to professionally efficient. They arranged a bike for me (where else is the sand of the beach so flat and hard that you can ride a bicycle on it?), taught me to play Bao, and took me to the New Year’s parties in town (a much better experience than the $50. visit to the Massai village while on safari). Before continuing on to the airport, Salim allowed me to leave my baggage in his car, while he had business in Stonetown, so that I could explore the city without having to arrange for a special day trip. I chose to stay in Zanzibar in order to recover from my climb of Kilimanjaro; it turned out to be a lovely destination on its own. If I lived in Europe, instead of California (a total of 20 hours air time), I would return regularly. |

As a tour leader for a leading UK operator, over the past few years I have spent time in more hotels than most people would in a lifetime. None sticks in my mind more than the Casa del Mar. Initially I was sent to this beautiful place to report on the hype surrounding a newly created hotel in Jambiani in 2005. Well, I couldn't stay away. Not only is this paradisiacal hotel set on arguably the most beautiful beach in Zanzibar, I defy anyone to find a more accommodating group of hosts anywhere in the world. I've been back three times and hope to return again very soon. Certainly a visit never to be forgotten. |

We spent 3 nights at the Casa in December 2006, and it was a perfect ending to our safari. The staff were the best of any in our travels across 5 continents. It is just very relaxing. We highly recommend! |
